I-STEM To Launch ‘Samavesha’ At IISc Bengaluru To Enhance Research Collaboration

Map of Indian science, technology and engineering facilities, known as i-stemis ready to launch an unprecedented initiative called ‘Inclusion.’ This ambitious project, led by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, aims to Transforming research collaboration in the country By facilitating easy access to scientific facilities and laboratories.

Launch event at IISc, Bengaluru

The inaugural ceremony of ‘Samvesh’ is going to be held in the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. The main objective of the project is to optimize the use of research resources on a nationwide scale. In 2024, I-STEM plans to organize around 50 ‘inclusion’ events across India.

Connecting researchers through an online portal

One of the important aspects of the project is the establishment of Online portal that will connect researchers and industries with scientific institutions, Through the i-STEM portal, individuals seeking advanced scientific equipment can seamlessly connect with institutions that have the desired equipment, allowing them to rent it for their experiments.

Vision of I-STEM

The overarching vision of I-STEM is to foster a future where millions of new-age researchers with innovative ideas can work seamlessly. Connected to a network of 10,000 state-of-the-art laboratories across India. By 2024, I-STEM aims to not only connect individuals to devices but also develop a collaborative ecosystem where startups, industry and academia collectively contribute to the next wave of innovation.

Economic benefits and resource optimization

This collaborative approach eliminates the prohibitive capital expenditures associated with purchasing advanced equipment. At the national level, this prevents duplication of resources within research institutions, leading to more efficient use of resources.

Importance of ‘Inclusion’

Dr. Harilal BhaskarEmphasizing on the importance of ‘inclusion’, the Chief Operating Officer and National Coordinator of I-STEM says, “Inclusion highlights the missing components – seamless connections, shared resources and a nationwide research surge. From hidden laboratories to unprecedented venues, inclusion empowers minds, unites forces, and creates a future of collaborative breakthroughs.

Purpose and future impact

The primary objective is to provide access to advanced and expensive research infrastructure to new age researchers, startups and industries across India and to promote innovation. I-STEM envisions a future where researchers have unparalleled access to cutting-edge facilities, Which led to increase in research and indigenous product innovation.

Expected impact of ‘inclusion’

1) Increase in indigenous product innovation: The collaborative synergy is expected to significantly boost innovation.
2) Knowledge Exchange Ecosystem: ‘Samvesha’ seeks to promote a rich knowledge exchange environment, research and development.
3) National Progress: Breaking down barriers to access, the event aspires to make India a hub of groundbreaking discoveries and homegrown progress.
