This year KIYG saw participation from athletes from all 36 states and union territories of India, reflecting the diverse and wide participation in sports across the country. As hosts, Tamil Nadu has the largest contingent with 559 athletes, setting the stage for an exciting competition.

A total of 26 sports will be featured at KIYG 2024, offering a variety of athletic challenges. Squash made its debut this year, adding a new dimension to the competition. Additionally, Silambam, an indigenous form of martial arts, is performed as a demonstration sport to promote the traditional sporting heritage.
